Top Football League Fixtures, 2021-22
August 7, Fulham v Middlesbrough: The Cottagers open their new Riverside Stand
August 7, Coventry City v Nottingham Forest: Coventry back at the Ricoh!
August 14: Wimbledon v Bolton Wanderers: Back at Plough Lane!
August 14: Sutton United v Salford City: First-ever Football League game at Gander Green Lane
August 14, Blackpool v Cardiff: Blackpool back in the Championship for the first time since 2015!
August 28 and January 22: East Midlands Derby
October 16 and April 2: South Wales Derby
October 23 and March 19: Preston North End play Blackpool again
December 11 and April 18: Sunderland and Plymouth Argyle have, by our count, the longest road trip in the Football League this season at 404 miles one-way! Carlisle and Exeter City came in second at 346 miles.
Best Times to Go for Football League Games in the 2021-22 Season
For us, this is all about mid-week games and Cup ties, so here are our Top Times to Go this season:
Mid-August for season-opening league fixtures and League Cup First Round games the week of August 9.
First week of November for mid-week Championship games and, on the first weekend, League One and League Two clubs entering the FA Cup First Round.
First week of December for FA Cup Second Round and Championship games December 4-5, then mid-week League One and Two games.
Festive Season: League Games on December 26, 28, 29, and January 1, then League Cup semifinals midweek, then FA Cup Third Round — with Premier League and Championship clubs — January 8 and 9.
Second Week of February: Everybody plays mid-week!
