Sheffield Wednesday
In our latest English football fan chat, we learn all about the ups and downs…
Our guest is Alan, whom I met online between the two Steel City Derbies in the 2017-18 season. The first, at Sheffield Wednesday — or, as Alan likes to say, “A dilapidated old building in S6,” was a cracking 4-2 win for the Blades. I took a video of the winning goal, which endeared me to the red side of the city, and when the return leg came at “Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane,” Alan sorted me a ticket.
You can read all about that in the post, Me and the Blades: A Sheffield Sensation.
Naturally, then, when it came time to have a Blade on, it had to be Alan. Unfortunately, our call occurred on the day that Chris Wilder, legendary Sheffield United manager, was sacked. So we spend a lot of time talking about that. Then Alan tries not to mention the name of their rival or their stadium. Then we talk about the Greasy Chip Butty Song. And other fun things.
Enjoy! And check out the other Fan Chats below.
