Reader Report: Back At The Emirates For An Arsenal Win

Groundhopper client Owen had his first taste of Premier League soccer when he saw the Gunners play in 2013, and he and his family got Arsenal tickets from us to hopefully see their first Arsenal win in person!

Below are Owen’s thoughts on the game:

Eleven years ago, my parents and | got our first taste of the English Premier League, watching
Arsenal and Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the 2013/14 season. Sitting
in the club level on the west side of the stadium, we were gifted an early Olivier Giroud goal
right in front of us before Arsenal crumbled in front of 60,000 Gooners, conceding three
consecutive goals and having a man sent off.

Back at the Emirates 11 years later to hopefully see an Arsenal win!

Fast forward to 2024, we were off to the Emirates again, hoping to see Arsenal win in person for
the first time. Between visits to London, we saw Arsenal lose two preseason friendlies in New
York in 2014 and in Philadelphia this past summer.

Thanks to Groundhopper Soccer Guides, our decade-long wait to see an Arsenal win was well
worth it. We were treated to a thrilling match that saw Arsenal score two goals in stoppage time
to stave off a second-half comeback from Leicester City.

Sitting in Box 70, we saw four of the game’s six goals, including watching Leicester’s James
Justin ping one in off the far post from the edge of the area. Being right above the away
supporters added to the ambiance of the match. In the first half, we thought the match was
heading for a convincing Arsenal win but they had to make things stressful for us and everyone
in the stadium. However, we couldn’t have asked for a better ending to the game, with Leandro
Trossard forcing a Leicester City own goal in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time
before Kai Havertz added an insurance goal following a VAR review. The Emirates was in full
voice, creating an atmosphere we soon won’t forget.

Outside of the match, the amenities that were provided within the Cannon Club were top-notch.
We enjoyed food and beverages while reading our complimentary matchday program and
happily watching Man City drop points against Newcastle. The club even had a mini shop where
you could purchase jerseys, hats, scarves, and more. We recommend arriving at least two
hours before the match to allow time to explore the surrounding area, visit the store, and take
advantage of what the club level has to offer.

We returned to North London the following day for our stadium tour and to visit the museum,
both perks that were included in our package from Groundhopper Soccer Guides. Having toured
many stadiums and arenas in the States, this was by far the best experience I’ve ever had.

Enjoying exclusive access to the Arsenal dressing room with the stadium tour included in the Cannon Club ticket package offered by Groundhopper Guides.

From visiting the dressing rooms and walking through the player’s tunnel to sitting in the
director’s seat and exploring the luxury boxes, the access given by the club was nothing short of
amazing. Being able to show up at any time during the day and having the tour entrance in the
team shop was super convenient. The staff was incredibly friendly and we really enjoyed our
audio tour from Frimmy!

While not attached to the stadium, the Arsenal Museum was a nice touch to finish off our
second day visiting the club. It might not be a big museum or take up a lot of your time, but there was plenty of great history and memorabilia on display. We were able to learn even more
about the club thanks to a museum employee who was in his 20th year as a season ticket
member. Interacting with employees who had such a deep connection with the club elevated our
experience.

We are thankful to have found Groundhopper Soccer Guides and are appreciative of their
hospitality, support, and outstanding communication. It’s not every day you get to see your
favorite Premier League team play in their home ground but thanks to Paul and his team, our
amazing experience was made possible.
