When are the next international breaks in English and European football?

What is an International Break?

International breaks are weekends (or longer) when domestic football league schedules pause so that national teams and domestic leagues can plan for many top players to move around the world.

Therefore, during international breaks there are no fixtures in the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, or other top European leagues. In England, this includes the Football League Championship. An international break also means no UEFA Champions League or Europa League fixtures.

International breaks are scheduled well ahead of time and are set to coincide with FIFA World Cup qualifying, the UEFA European Championships, the Africa Cup of Nations, Copa América, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, etc.

Technically, an international break is from a Monday through the following Tuesday, but for domestic league fixtures, it really means you miss one weekend. But, starting in the 2026-27 season, FIFA is bringing in two-weekend-long international breaks.

For the lists below, we give the Saturday in which there will be no fixtures in domestic leagues such as the Premier League, Championship, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, etc.

International Competitions, 2025-26 Season

The domestic league schedule for 2025-26 is over, but there is one more big international football event coming up soon.

• 2026 FIFA World Cup, June 11 to July 19, 2026.

International Breaks, 2026-27 Season

There will be no league games on the weekends of:

• September 26 and October 3, 2026 — note this is a two-weekend international break, something new from FIFA.
• November 14, 2026
• March 27, 2027

International Breaks, 2027-28 Season

There will be no league games on the weekends of:

• September 25 and October 2, 2027 — another two-weekend international break.
• November 13, 2027
• March 25, 2028

When and Where are the 2028 Euros?

The 2028 UEFA European Championships will be June 9 to July 9, 2028, in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

When and Where is the 2030 World Cup?

The 2030 FIFA World Cup is in June 8 to July 21, 2030, in Morocco, Portugal and Spain.

When and Where are the 2032 Euros?

The 2032 UEFA European Championships will be June to July, 2032, in Italy and Turkey. The exact dates are not set.

When and Where is the 2034 World Cup?

The 2034 FIFA World Cup is in Saudi Arabia. The exact dates are not set, but it could well be in November and December, or maybe even January 2035.
