Which German clubs are playing in Europe in the 2026-27 season?

We have here the list of German Bundesliga clubs in UEFA competitions this season: Champions League, Europa League, Conference League.

First, a little background.

What Does “Get Into Europe” Mean?

In each region of the world, there is one or more regional club competition: the Copa Libertadores in South America, for example. In Europe, there are actually three: the Champions League, the Europa League, and the Conference League. And each European country sends clubs to each one each season.

In Germany, the top four teams qualify for the Champions League, the fifth for the Europa League. The winner of the German Cup, or DFB-Pokal, also qualifies for Europa League. And if they were in the top 5 anyway, their spot goes to the number 6 team. And finally, the 6th (or 7th, if the above has happened) team goes to the Conference League.

For the 2026-27 Champions League, Germany are represented in the Champions League by the top four from last season’s Bundesliga:

  • Bayern Munich
  • Borussia Dortmund
  • RB Leipzig
  • Stuttgart

Hoffenheim qualified for the Europa League by finishing fifth in the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen finished sixth and got into Europa because Bayern Munich also won the DFB-Pokal.
