Athletic Bilbao are a very interesting club who are known for having tremendous local support and only signing players of Basque heritage or local connections. Athletic Bilbao are one of the most successful and oldest clubs in Spain and are constantly battling for control of the Basque country with their close neighbors Real Sociedad — and we sell Real Sociedad tickets, as well!

While our team at Groundhopper has yet to visit San Mamés Stadium to catch a game, it is a great, newer ground with an amazing atmosphere, so catching a game here should be at the top of every groundhoppers list!

One of the games that you should plan to see is the famous Athletic Bilbao-Real Sociedad rivalry. This matchup, called the Basque Derby, is one of the most exciting and passionate derbies in Spain. During the 2024-25 season, the two clubs will play each other twice one home and one away. These games will be on the weekends of November 24, 2024 and May 4, 2025.
