When will Barcelona’s new Camp Nou open?
As registered agents for FC Barcelona ticket resellers, we are very much tracking when Barcelona’s “new” stadium will open. So when does Barcelona return to the Camp Nou?
Camp Nou Return Delayed to October 2025
Cadena SER is now reporting that Barcelona will play at the Estadi Johan Cruyff for their first home game of the season against Valencia. They are now expected to return to the Camp Nou following the international break in October. It is expected that La Liga will approve Barcelona’s request to play their additional games in September at the Olympic Stadium, where they have played their home games since renovations began in 2023.
Barça have renewed their lease at the Olympic Stadium through February 2026. But their September La Liga games apparently will be in their academy stadium without fans.
Will Barcelona Champions League Games be at Camp Nou
For the club, this is massive question because of all the money involved. The problem they have is that UEFA, runners of the Champions League, says that before they can host a UEFA game in a stadium they have to have played a league game there. With the first Group Stage game at home in early October, that means they have to play a league game at Camp Nou in September, and that now seems impossible.
Furthermore, all the Champions League Group Stage games have to be at the same place, so if Barça can’t get into Camp Nou in September, they won’t be there in Europe until February for the knockout stage.
Will the Opening Date Be Pushed Back Again?
Probably. Stay tuned for more information on the chaotic Barcelona stadium news.
