Below is a map of 2023-24 French football clubs, showing the top two tiers, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
French Football Promotion and Relegation, 2022-23 Season
Ligue 1 is the top tier in France, and Ligue 2 is the second. After the 2022-23 French football season, six teams switched leagues from the previous season. This year also marks a change, as Ligue 1 will only have 18 clubs this season, rather than 20. That’s why four clubs went down but only two came up.
From Ligue 2 up to Ligue 1:

- Le Havre
From Ligue 1 down to Ligue 2:
- Ajaccio
- Auxerre
- Angers
- Troyes
Paris Saint-Germain are defending Ligue 1 champions.
