Interactive Map of French Football Clubs (2026-27)

Updated for 2026-27, this map covers every club in the top two tiers of French football: Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.

Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, along with other levels of French football, are connected by a system of promotion and relegation. The top four teams in Ligue 1 qualify for the Champions League, nos. 5 and 6 go to Europa League, and No. 7 goes to Conference League.

The bottom two teams in Ligue 1 go down to Ligue 2. The top two in Ligue 2 go up to Ligue 1 automatically. And then there is a playoff between #16 in Ligue 1 and #3 in Ligue 2, with the winner playing the next season in Ligue 1.

Here are the promotions, relegations and European places in France after the 2025-26 season.

We think watching soccer in France is worth a lot more than seeing PSG — although clearly, seeing the two-time European champions in one of the world’s greatest cities is a must-do trip. The other cities alone are so worth a trip: Marseille, Lyon (photo above), Nice, Monaco … in each of those and more you can also find a football experience almost untouched by tourists.
