In France, the top three teams in the league qualify for the Champions League main competition. For the 2025-26 competition, those are PSG, Marseille, and Monaco. The team in fourth place goes into the Champions League qualifiers, and for this season that was Nice, but they were eliminated in that round by Benfica of Portugal. This dropped them into the Europa League.

Along with Nice, formerly of the Champions League, Lille qualified by finishing 5th. Normally the winner of the Coupe de France would also qualify, but last season that was PSG, who also won the league. Therefore, that spot went the the team finishing 6th, which was Lyon.

France’s sixth-placed team normally goes to the Conference League, but everyone moved up a spot because PSG won the Cup, so this meant the 7th-placed team, Strasbourg, qualified for the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds. They won the playoff, so they are still in the 2025-25 Conference League.
