Now that the 2024-25 La Liga season has come to a close, which Spanish teams are playing in Europe for the 2025-26 season?

UEFA, the regional brach of FIFA, which governs world football, runs three club competitions in Europe each season: The Champions League, the Europa League, and the Conference League. It’s called the Champions League, by the way, because it used to be you had to win your home country to get in. It has seen been expanded considerably.
In Spain, the top five in La Liga go to the Champions League, number 6 goes to the Europa League along with the winner of the Copa del Rey, and number 7 goes to the Conference League. If the Cup winner also finished in the top 5, their spot goes to the next-highest finisher who didn’t qualify otherwise.

For the 2025-26 competition, Spain are represented in the Champions League by Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, and Villarreal. All 5 made it based on their finishing spot in the top 5 of the league, securing them a spot in the Champions League for the 2025-26 season.

Spanish Teams in the 2025-26 Europa League
Real Betis and Celta Vigo have both qualified for the 2025-26 Europa League. Betis finished sixth, and Celta de Vigo took the place of Barcelona, who won the league and the Copa del Rey.

Rayo Vallecano qualified for the 2025-26 Conference League finishing in 8th. Effectively, they took Celta’s place after Celta went into the Europa League.
