When does the 2026-27 Spanish La Liga soccer season start, and when will we know the schedule?

2026-27 La Liga Fixtures Release

The 2026-27 La Liga fixtures and Liga 2 fixtures will be released June 30 at 1900 Central European Time (1800 UK time, 1200 US Eastern).

Remember: La Liga Fixtures Will Change

In late June or early July, we will know the La Liga fixtures by matchweek, but not the actual days and times of each game. This is affected by numerous factors. These include mainly television, but also European fixtures, and the Copa del Rey (Related: What is the Copa Del Rey?).

These changes are done in batches, and based on the current season, they will take place from three to five weeks before each round of games.

2026-27 La Liga Season Start Date

The 2026-27 La Liga season will start on the weekend of August 15 or 22; this is currently being negotiated between the league and the players’ union.

The La Liga season end date has yet to be confirmed, but will likely be on May 23 or 30, 2027.

When are International Breaks in the 2026-27 Season?

There is a slight change to the international breaks for 2026-27. Instead of three one-week breaks in the fall, there will be one two-week break and one one-week break — so no league games on the weekends of September 26, October 3, and November 14. There is also a break the weekend of March 27.
